The vain, preening, shouty, toupee-wearing narcissus was not on duty when we visited, but not to worry: the food was excellent. My starter of deep-fried Camembert was delicious and the side order of garlic bread was toasted to perfection. For main I had the deconstructed corn beef hash with market bought greens and yet more garlic bread, the fruit-laced Sangria really bringing out the flavours of the food. For dessert I had the wonderful Jam Rolls Polly with custard (no, I didn’t have any more garlic bread!) followed by coffee (Mellow Birds) and mints. A quick boogy at the bar and we were on our way home. A great experience.
Expectations were a little too high going to Ramsay's, waiters were 1st class, noise was out of control, asked to relocate, after relocation one of our chairs was very sloppy to sit in. Food was good not great, steak was tender but very salty. Expect this to be a very expensive meal in a very noisy atmosphere, Is there better out there for lesser price? yes! I rarely post a review, but watching Gordon Ramsay conduct himself on TV expecting the absolute highest standards intrigued me to have a meal here, maybe I was fooled by reality TV...who knows. lower your standards and expect to pay $150 to $200 per person.

I have been to many of the Galvin Restaurants. Each of them offer a unique experience and a lovely twist of French cooking. Galvin La Chapelle is absolutely stunning and the crab lasagna is one of my favourite of the Galvin brothers’ signature dishes. Galvin HOP offers a relaxed ambiance and their Tarte flambée is delicious. The Athenaeum offers lovely afternoon tea and their bar is very stunning, a great venue for a Friday or Saturday night cocktail. I have also had the chance to venture the Galvin Green Man in Chelmsford which is less than an hour from London. Since they’ve opened, they won many awards including a Bib Gourmand and that’s not surprising. With lovely surrounding countryside, you can enjoy their Galvin’s classics, some lovely seasonal dishes or if you are in the mood even some pub grub. Definitely worth the ride! I can’t recommend Galvin restaurants enough and wish them many more years of success.
